Discover why they choose us
Real Texas Plumbing did a great job fixing my grinder pump after the alarm went off here in Lago Vista. They responded to the issue and got the problem taken care of, ensuring me everything is working properly again. I appreciate their help and professionalism and would recommend Real Texas Plumbing to anyone looking for a reliable plumber. They fixed my neighbors AC too. Thanks for the recommendation Scotty!
Having AC issues is never fun, but Real Texas Plumbing Heating & Air made the whole replacement process completely stress-free. They identified our bad evaporator coil, laid out the solution clearly without any high-pressure sales pitch, and completed the job right on schedule. The difference in cooling power is night and day. Huge thanks to the team for the prompt and friendly service
We had EXTREME (LIKE VERY LOUD) hammering of pipes in the lower level of our house that uses a grinder pump. We ruled out our pressure reduction valve that others were focused on. We made all kinds of changes that didn’t resolve the issue. I saw all the comments about this company in a Lago Vista Facebook group and them working on grinder pumps, so figured I would give them a try. The plumber that came out finally resolved the issue, which was too much pressure in the discharge line. I am soooo relieved. This could have been a huge mess in our house, since the sewage lines run back through it! This is now the quietest this house has been with that pump since I bought the place new in 2012! I learned that the team put their heads together to solve this challenging issue. Grinder Pumps are not something that every plumber knows - If you are having issues and even just SUSPECT its due to your Grinder Pump, I would just call them first. This company was my 4th attempt at trying to get a plumber to figure it out.

Lago Vista isn't a flat subdivision on gravity sewer. The town climbs from about 774 feet at the lakeshore to about 1,220 feet near Rusty Allen Airport. That terrain decides how wastewater leaves your house, and it changes what a "clogged drain" can mean.
Many homes pump their sewage uphill. Where gravity can't carry wastewater to the sewer, a grinder pump collects it in a tank on your property, grinds it, and pushes it through a pressurized line. In those homes, slow or backed-up drains can be a pump or float-switch problem, not a pipe problem. Snaking a drain won't fix a pump that isn't pumping, so we check the pump first. Grinder pumps are a big part of our work, and our reviews show it.
Some homes are still on septic. In a septic home, slow drains can mean a line clog, a full tank or a failed lift pump. We clear the lines and repair or replace lift pumps. If the tank needs pumping, we'll tell you, so you call a septic service instead of paying us for the wrong fix.
The blockage might be the city's. Everything on your side of the sewer connection is yours to maintain; the public main belongs to the City of Lago Vista. If we find the problem is on the city's side, we'll tell you and report it, and you won't pay us to fix the city's pipe.
Wipes and grease hit harder here. A grinder pump handles normal household waste, but "flushable" wipes, paper towels and cooking grease wrap around the grinder and coat the float switches that tell the pump when to run. Keeping them out of your drains is the cheapest maintenance you can do.
Our grinder pump service page explains the alarm in more detail.
We match the tool to the problem instead of running the same machine on every call.
• Sink, tub, shower and laundry clogs: we clear the trap and cable the branch line.
• Main line blockages: cleared from the outdoor cleanout when your home has one. Without a cleanout, we go through a toilet or a roof vent, which takes longer.
• Grease and heavy buildup: hydro jetting, which scours the pipe wall instead of just punching a hole through the clog.
• Clogs that keep coming back: a camera inspection to see whether the cause is buildup, roots, a sag or a broken pipe.
• Grinder pump homes: we check the pump, alarm and float switches along with the lines, and test the alarm before we leave.
1. You'll talk to someone local. We'll ask which drains are slow, whether you have a grinder pump or septic, and whether anything is coming up.
2. You'll get a price before we start. No work begins until you approve it.
3. We clear it and test it. We run water at the fixture and the drains around it to confirm the line is flowing.
4. We tell you whether it'll come back. If it's a one-time clog, we say so. If it's a symptom of something bigger, you'll hear what, why and your options.
5. We clean up before we leave.
We're open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.
We are local so we aren't driving in from Austin. A single-fixture clog is the least expensive call; a main-line blockage costs more; grinder pump repairs are priced separately. You'll have a firm price before we start.
What moves the price:
Which line: one fixture's branch versus the main line
Access: an outdoor cleanout versus pulling a toilet
Method: a cable versus hydro jetting
The real cause: a failed grinder pump or float switch is a separate repair
A clogged tub that was really the grinder. Izabelly I. called about a clogged tub on a holiday weekend. It turned out to be a failed grinder, which we replaced, and we cleaned up the surrounding area to help prevent a repeat.
The city's problem, no charge. Janna B. called on a Sunday afternoon about a line blockage. Our tech found it was a city issue, notified the city for her, and charged no service fee.
Honest when a clog came back. Trinidad D.'s shower drain clogged again two days after we snaked it. The follow-up visit wasn't billed.
A laundry drain, fixed on arrival. Robert M. said we were upfront about what was wrong and took care of it as soon as we arrived.
A new-pump quote that was really float switches. Another plumber told Daryl O. he needed a new grinder pump. Our diagnosis found bad float switches.
