What is Real Home Care?

Real Home Care is a yearly home maintenance plan from Real Texas Plumbing - Heating and Air. One plan covers your plumbing and your heating and air for $45 a month, or $540 a year. If you have a grinder pump, add grinder pump care for $10 a month, which makes $55 a month in all. What you get each year

• Plumbing, one visit a year. We flush your water heater, check your water pressure and check that your valves are working.

• Heating and air, two visits a year. We clean the drain line, do full system maintenance with a refrigerant check, and clean the outdoor condenser in the summer.

• Grinder pump care, one visit a year (add-on). We clean the tank and measure the pump's amp draw to make sure its parts are working the way they should.

If we find something that needs fixing during a visit, we explain it and give you a written price before any work starts. You decide. No pressure.

Why a yearly plan is worth it

Most breakdowns start as small things you cannot see from the thermostat or the faucet: a clogged condensate drain, a tired capacitor, sediment in a water heater, a float or check valve that is wearing out. A scheduled visit finds them while they are cheap, and you stop having to remember when each system was last looked at.

If you have a grinder pump, the plan matters more. In Lago Vista and The Hollows you own the pump, the tank and the alarm panel, and when a grinder pump stops the house has nowhere to send wastewater. A yearly check is the cheapest way to catch a problem before the alarm goes off.

Plan terms in plain English

• The plan runs 12 months. You can pay $540 for the year or $45 a month over 12 months.

• Each extra water heater or extra HVAC system at your home is $99 a year. You can pay it yearly, or have it divided monthly and added to your plan.

• The plan renews each year, and your account needs to be current for member benefits to apply.

• If you sell your home, the plan transfers to the new owner.
