What's in Lago Vista's water?

Lago Vista's city water comes from Lake Travis. The city treats it and tests it regularly, and it meets state and federal drinking water standards. So this isn't about your water being unsafe. It's about two everyday annoyances:

  • Hard water. Lake Travis water carries a lot of calcium and magnesium. The city has reported hardness around 10 grains per gallon, which is considered hard. That's the white crust on your faucets, the spots on your dishes, and the scale that builds up inside your water heater and shortens its life.

  • Taste and smell. The city adds disinfectant to keep water safe on its way to your house. It does its job, but a lot of folks don't love the taste in their coffee, tea or ice.

Want to see the numbers for yourself? Read the City of Lago Vista Annual Water Quality Report.

We see what hard water does on service calls around the lake every week: crusted faucet aerators, shower valves stuck with calcium, and water heaters lined with scale.

Water treatment systems we install

Reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water systems

An RO system sits under your kitchen sink and pushes water through a very fine membrane plus a few filters. You get clean, great-tasting water from a separate faucet for drinking, cooking, coffee and your fridge's ice maker. It's the best option if taste is your main complaint. When you compare systems, look for NSF/ANSI Standard 58 certification, which means the system's performance was independently tested.

Whole-home water filtration

A whole-home filter goes where water enters your house, so every tap and shower gets filtered water. It's mainly for chlorine taste and smell, sediment and better-feeling showers. We install these in garages and utility areas, and we check your water pressure before and after so you don't lose flow. Look for NSF/ANSI Standard 42 certification.

Water softeners

A softener removes the hardness minerals that cause scale. It protects your water heater, faucets, dishwasher and pipes, and cuts down on spotty dishes. A softener doesn't make water taste better on its own, which is why a lot of homeowners pair one with an RO system at the kitchen sink. Look for NSF/ANSI Standard 44 certification. We also repair existing water softeners.

Not sure which fits your home? We'll test your water, show you the results, and give you options in writing, with no pressure to pick the biggest one.

How it works

  1. Water test and system match. One of our techs tests your water, asks what's bugging you (hardness, taste, smell, sediment), and looks at your plumbing setup.

  2. Straight answers and an upfront price. We explain what your results mean and give you a firm price in writing. No surprises on the invoice.

  3. Clean, code-compliant install. Most under-sink RO systems go in in about two hours. Softeners and whole-home systems take longer, and we'll tell you how long when we quote. We check pressure, test every connection for leaks, and clean up before we leave.

  4. We show you how it works. Your tech walks you through the system, filter changes and what to expect, so you're confident from day one.

Keep it working with a maintenance plan

Filters only work if they get changed. Ask about our maintenance plan when we quote your system. We'll remind you when filters are due, swap them, and check the whole system so it keeps working like day one.
