Real Texas Plumbing - Heating and Air is a licensed, family-owned heating and air company in Lago Vista. Indoor air quality is the part of HVAC that decides whether a house feels clean and comfortable or sticky, dusty and stale, and most of it bolts onto the air handler you already own. We install REME HALO whole-home purifiers, UV lights, media filter cabinets, whole-home dehumidifiers and ERV fresh-air systems, and we seal and repair ducts. You get a written price before any work starts, and the $65 trip charge goes toward it.

What is wrong with the air in your house?

Start with what you notice. Each one has its own page with what it costs and what to expect.

Why indoor air is a Lago Vista problem

  • Mountain cedar. From late December into February, Ashe juniper on the hills around the lake puts out pollen counts among the highest in the country. A standard 1-inch filter does not stop it, and it ends up inside, in the ducts and on the coil.

  • Lake humidity. Homes on and near the water run humid from spring into fall. An oversized air conditioner cools the house fast and shuts off before it has pulled the moisture out, so the house is cold and clammy at the same time.

  • Weekend homes. A house closed up for two or three weeks with the thermostat set high is a mold incubator. Humidity control and a purifier running on the fan matter more here than in a house someone lives in every day.

  • Hill Country dust and attics. Caliche dust, construction in the newer subdivisions, and 140-degree attics with leaky ducts pulling attic air into the supply. Sealing the ducts is often the first fix, before any gadget.

What we install

  • REME HALO whole-home air purifier. Mounts in the supply duct and treats the air in every room while the system runs. Our most-requested option for allergies, odors and germs. Details and pricing.

  • UV light sticks. A germicidal UV lamp at the indoor coil that keeps mold and biofilm from growing on the wettest part of your system, which is where the musty AC smell comes from. Details.

  • Media filter cabinets. A 4 or 5-inch pleated filter in a proper cabinet in place of the 1-inch filter. Catches far more cedar pollen and dust without choking airflow, and lasts 6 to 12 months.

  • Whole-home dehumidifiers. Ducted into the system, drained to a condensate line, set to a humidity target and forgotten. Details.

  • Duct sealing and repair. Fixing the leaks, crushed runs and disconnected boots that pull attic air into the house. Details.

  • ERV fresh-air ventilation. Brings in filtered outside air and exhausts stale air without throwing away the cooling or heating you paid for. Details.

Where to start

Honest answer: most houses do not need all of it. If dust is the complaint, we check the ducts and the filter first; a sealed system with a media filter solves a lot before you buy a purifier. If humidity is the complaint, we check whether the AC is oversized or short-cycling before we sell a dehumidifier. If it is allergies, germs or smells, the REME HALO and a UV light are the right tools. The $65 visit covers looking at the system and telling you which it is, in writing, with a price.

Indoor air quality for lake houses and weekend homes

If your Lago Vista house sits empty for stretches, three things pay for themselves: a whole-home dehumidifier set to 50 percent, a purifier that runs with the fan on a schedule, and a smart thermostat that tells your phone the humidity, not just the temperature. We set all three up together.

How indoor air quality work goes

Look at the system first, then a written price for the fix that matches the problem.

Tell us what you notice

Allergies, dust, smells, stickiness, a stuffy room, a musty lake house. The symptom points at the fix, and we ask about the house and the system so the technician arrives ready.

Filter, ducts, coil condition, airflow and humidity. A lot of air problems are a duct leak or an oversized AC, and we say so before recommending equipment.

2

Written price for the right fix

REME HALO, UV light, media filter cabinet, dehumidifier, duct sealing or ERV, priced in writing with the $65 trip charge applied.

3

Install, set up, show you

Installed on your air handler or ductwork, wired and drained properly, set to the right targets, and we show you what to change and when.
